Moving Day

Greetings Friends,

I'm sitting on the floor of my prior residence here in Stamford, watching 3 moving men periodically walk by carrying our possessions. I'm tired. I had a psychology teacher once tell me the body requires only 4 hours of sleep. Two for physical and two for mental. This past week, I spent testing that theory give or take a half hour. One interesting thing I learned about myself is that regardless of the time or how much rest I've had, I'm never tired when I'm painting. Paint fumes apparently turn off my sleep gene.

The cleaning guys are close to being done. They've cleared out the basement and the attic. Most of the downstairs is on the truck. They're working on the upstairs now and then they have the washer and dryer and the tv.

Then we'll drive up to Fairfield. Unfortunately, their truck can't take the Merrit so they'll have to jump on i95 and take the local roads to our house. After a little lunch, they'll unpack. There's some slight trickery with switching out the washer and dryer across the street from the new house as well as grabbing a desk from Tim and Karen's garage but on the whole, the move should be fairly easy going.

The real trick is trying to manage my new house adrenaline with my exhaustion. Right now, I want to pass out, but I can't. Later when I'm at the new house, I run the risk of being so excited that I can't sleep. So right now, I'm trying to channel the future adrenaline so that I can pass out when the moving people leave up this afternoon.

What else can I say? Love the house. I spent a good amount of time up there this week and I really enjoy being there. I really enjoy being across the street from Tim and Karen a lot. I think I've gone over how we got the house but the reason we're moving in is because Tim and Karen called us up on Mother's Day when they found out their neighbors were selling the house across the street. There is just a natural good feeling that comes from knowing that Tim and Karen and their 3 kids live just across the street. Knowing that now, I wish we could have done this years ago.

The commute from Fairfield to Stamford has not been as bad as I thought it would. I am told this is in part due to it being summer and that, come fall, it will get worse. Still, I am finding that I enjoy showing up to work, having finished my breakfast and coffee, getting my fill of Howard Stern and Opie & Anthony and arriving at work, ready to go. OH! DEAR SIRIUS SATELITE CORPORATE, If you could take a moment from your merge to install terrestrial repeaters along the Merrit Parkway in Connecticut, God Bless Ya. That would be really really helpful.

Speaking of Sirius as well as music, have you heard of the Sonos Digital Music System? This thing is soooooooo overpriced and God would I love one. But alas, I'm a homeowner now and extravagant purchases are now sort of a thing of the past. I'll tell you what I am getting though. A Mosquito Magnet. We've got a ton of bugs and they have got to go. Thank goodness for the Mosquito Magnet.

Check ya l8r.
Dave

That good feeling you describe is mutual. You two are an excellent addition to the neighborhood.

Last week I was up north on the Gaspe peninsula of Quebec. I heard the mosquitos were really big in Newfoundland, but we weren't that far north so I wasn't expecting to have problems with them. We were sitting at lunch, next to a window. Lunchtime - noon - daytime. The mosquitos were big enough to be very visible, and hungry enough to keep banging into the window trying to get at us as we sat safely inside. Scary! Made me less upset about our tiny mosquitos at night in Vermont.
Congratulations again on your new house!
